Club History

The London Iowa Club was officially formed in 2016 but the University of Iowa has had a presence in the United Kingdom for many years via various study abroad programs including the Tippie Winter Study Abroad program and the College of Law’s London Law program. Our first year saw great success with a variety of events including a special event at the Royal Academy of the Arts London which included a number of Deans as well as the University President.

Leadership

The current club leadership is composed of an  Executive Committee who oversee the day to day club management. We are always looking for hawkeyes who would like to volunteer to help out on either ad hoc or longer term basis.

• Deborah Eicher

Deborah was born and raised in Iowa City and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1985 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. Deborah moved to London in November 2014 and works as global business development director in the leisure industry. A lifelong Hawkeye fan, Deborah was a member of the Iowa Swimming Team. Deborah joined the London Iowa Club at the inaugural event in 2016 and looks forward to seeing the club grow and connecting with alumni living or visiting the United Kingdom.

• Alex Boyce (President)

Alex was born in Singapore and grew up in Houston, Texas. He made his way to the University of Iowa via a swimming scholarship and graduated in 2005. Alex moved to London in 2007 and works within investment banking. Alex founded the London Iowa Club in 2016 to help build a community for Hawkeyes and Iowans in the United Kingdom.
