Kicking off the fall season

It has been awhile since we posted any news. For those of you who have followed us on Facebook, you know that we haven’t just been sitting idly by. It has been an active 2018 for the London Iowa Club.

We kicked off things in January with a Law reception with visiting Iowa law students who were able to meet London alumni and gain insights on what it is like to practice law in the UK.

The spring was mainly filled with administrative items for the club. We had a reshuffle with the Board and, unfortunately, board member Lindsay Huxter decided to step down. Lindsay is still active as a member and we look forward to seeing her at many events in the future.

During the summer, we were again asked to participate in the Iowa Wave for the 2018 football schedule. For logistical reasons, we filmed our part in August in Parliament Square with a guest appearance by Westminster Abbey in our video. We had a great turn out with our video being shown during the UNI game on the 16th of September.

Also in September, we had a visit from Dean Downing Thomas who runs International Programs at the University of Iowa. We had a great social mixer with Dean Thomas and tested out our new default venue, Passyunk Avenue, which has London’s best philly cheesesteaks!

We are now looking forward to finishing the year with a few game watches and our annual mixers with the Tippie Winter Study Abroad students and the London Law Program students.

On Iowa! Go Hawks!
