Royce Kinniebrew was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He graduate from Charles F. Kettering high school and headed to the University of Iowa. Royce received a B.A. in English Literature while also majoring in African-American Studies. After returning to Detroit, Royce earned his master’s in education from Marygrove College in a program started to recruit more Black men in the teaching profession. It was as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and administrator that Royce cultivated his love for public service.

In 2001, Royce started a company called The Kinniebrew to have a broader opportunity to help teachers, parents, and children.  Mr. Kinniebrew currently provides social and emotional learning, trauma-informed practices, and cultural competency professional development programs for educators and all other school stakeholders. Additionally, The Kinniebrew Group provides diversity and inclusion programs for the federal government.  Some of the former clients of The Kinniebrew Group are the Department of Justice, NASA, and the Department of Education.  Royce also coaches AAU sports with the Courageous Track Club.
